Thanks for mentioning HS. I'll check him out tonight.

BTW: I dug up (literally) and reconfigured my #14 ga RX loop last night, 
which is similar to your loop, as I recall. This time I left off the preamp 
at the base and it looks like there will be enough signal to overcome the 
noise pickup of the coax leadin and be enough for the receivers as well. For 
matching I used a J type toroid (permeability ~5000) with a single pass on 
the loop side and 7 turns on the 75 ohm receiver side. Same as a TX loops in 
reverse since the Rac of the series tuned loop comes to ~1 ohm.

I recall you said your setup didn't have a very high Q but this one appears 
be about 200. Is it your low Z preamp, designed for low noise, that is the 
difference?
