[Lowfer] confusion

Use stranded wire next time. My flattop is made out of #20 stranded Teflon
insulated wire and it has survived 100mph winds now. It has three trees to
hang in so they all don't move the same amount when it gets windy but it
still is up there.

I'm not sure, but I think the 22 gauge solid copper wire running up my
mast is broken about 8' from the top.
If I had it to do over again (which it looks like I may) I would have used
heavier wire and/or tie-wrapped more often (closer together).
During the month of March I watched a segment of that wire whipping in the
breeze...vibrating is more like it. It looked like a plucked guitar
string. I'm thinking it may have broken where the vibrating wire was
clamped with a tie wrap.
The reason I suspect this is my finals are warm and I can't seem to tune
the antenna -- acts weird.
I hate to pull the vertical down and find that it is NOT broken, but
something seems to be up...
