Uhhh...did something change?  When I took my tech test in January another 
guy was taking the code test (had already passed the general written).  
They gave him a blank piece of paper and a pencil, plugged in a cassette 
tape (HORRIBLE recording -- lots of dropouts from being cued about 1000 
too many times), and told him to start copying.  It started out with a 
voice explanation, then a string of Vs, and then some code (MY QTH IS, 
etc).

It ran for about three or four minutes.  The VEs told him if they could 
find one minute of continuous good copy, he'd pass.

He did not. :(  But, he was old :)

But we will, won't we Bill?  I'll race you!  First one to general gets to 
meet the rest of the gang on HF first! :D
