Peter, the ALA100 is a Wellbrook antenna and I have it positioned along the
edge of a wooded area behind the house. It has legs of about 8mtrs and I have
to loops -one mounted N-S and the other E-W.I simple move the antenna head
unit when I switch. The lower portion of the loop is about 2 mtrs above
ground and the other legs of the loop use some trees for attachments.
The Amrad antenna is mounted on a chimney part of the house and is basically
in the clear and about 10 mtrs high. The Amrad does work rather nice for a
general type receiving antenna but on the quick checks that I did make the
loop was really much better--4-5 S units on a couple of LF signals in the
60Khz-180Khz.So maybe moving the Amrad to different locations and heights
may show different results, but that is more work than I want to do now ..
