Mike,
I am just out of hospital with 6X bypass but have decided to "go digital" as
soon as I can move around well enough. The prolonged recovery and rehab
period will provide a good environment for learning and experimenting. I
think I have the hardware but am very unsure of the digital side of the
equation. I have a 200MHz pentium with a nice soundblaster card that has
been taken out of WEB application by upgrade and I can dedicate it to the
radio room setup.
Unfortunately, the terms are overwhelming to me ("dogbones - ARGO" etc.). I
know there are programs avaliable for all sorts of spectrum/waterfall
displays, QRS QRSS then QRSS followed by a number (?) and PSK- etc. But I
have no feel for which one (s) I want to use on 166 KHz, nor where they
might be obtained. I do have the CD that comes with the rigblaster
interface but I don't know what all is on there.
Is there a site that will help educate me somewhere on the web? The only
"digital" ham work I have done was wide shift RTTY with M15 equipment (for 7
years on 20M) back in the 1960s.
things have changed a lot since then - but I would like to try again.
Thanks for any light you can shed on the subject !
God Bless,
Bill - KF6AR
