Hi Lewis,
Your 40/20 turns sounds high to me, but that will still couple into the
loop. note, the sig level out of the small loop will be low. It needs an
amp somewhere.

I'm also trying a new coax loop, ala, Mitch's site. I'll be using the
companion Burhans amp, however. It sits at the loop, fed up the coax.
[Hmm, try saying that fast.] The coupling is via small audio xfmrs in
and out, no toroide cores. Have you considered that approach?

Hi Lowfers,
I have been working on my 8 ft RG 8 U mini coax Loop.
I was going to series tune it, but couldn't get satisfactory results
out of
it. I wound up winding a balance xmer for it on a
unknown toroid like Mitch uses. I moved it out side and hung it in a
tree
temporarily, but I am still not satisfied. I use XSR to check it out,
and
compared to my inverted L he is down some what.
I used 40 turns center taped to ground on the loop side, and 20 turns
to
coax back to the shack. I earth grounded the shield.
The toroid came out of computer Power supply. yellow in color.
it is about 2' out side and 1' inside from memory, i didn't measure
it.
The preamp is in the shack.
Does this sound reasonable ?
Lewis
God Bless America
