Put it as high as you can safely install it. Mitch hoists his up in trees
with rope. I would try for about 20' minimum. It will work down lower, but
the signals go up by some ratio with each foot of elevation. There are guys
that can give you more accurate data than I can, but this will get you going
if no one else is around tonight.

Well Guys,
I finally got the grass cut and moved on to more important things, Mainly my
8' sq. RG8U loop. I am happy to report the Cap. required was 1 ea. .033 mf
4 ea. .01 mf. all ten %
also a 49 pf tuning cap. you were real close.
I haven't put it on a pole yet. measured off 8' on the eve of my shop and
hung it their, the bottom is about a foot from the ground. with my universal
preamp i get XSR about 17 db. on argo with a noise of 56 db.
How high off the ground should i try and get it when i put it on a pole, got
to get some 2x2's and paint them.
On and on XSR he was on the other side of shop, like it is all metal.
