Hi Larry,

>Bill are your loops still rotating?

Not at the moment (the pattern, that is). I'm set up to send a rotating p=
attern but for the last 8 months or so I've been sending only in the E/W =
direction in order to maximize the signal where most of the listeners are=
located. If anyone to the south would like to see WA please let me know.=

>Since these TX loops seem to be doing such a good job would a loop built=
similar to the TX loop work better
>as a receiving loop also?? =20

It's not a case of which RX antenna has the highest output but which ante=
nna has the best S/N - a fact that seems to be left out of half the anten=
na discussions I see. My TX loops are inferior in the receive mode at thi=
s location because this is a fairly close-in neighborhood (every househol=
d has an average of two PCs) and even though the signals can be strong en=
ough, using nothing more than a diode and a pair of headphones, the S/N i=
s lousy. For a simple loop (one plane only) nobody has shown me that inc=
reasing the size beyond a 6ft diameter improves the S/N, and anything ove=
r this eliminates the ability to rotate the loop with a low cost rotator.=
Where the moderately large RX loop can be used to a big advantage is wh=
en two loops are used to give a switchable cardioid pattern. Your situati=
on, right? =20
