LOWFERS:
Now both computers are broke, mine and my wifes! So no possibility of
transmitting QRSS here. Sorry. I did check the "Device Manager" on both the
Fujitsu Lifebooks, and both were set up exactly the same, but I received no
"signal" voltage from mine which I have used for several years with an
interface I made several years ago for NA contest software, to key rig. I
also made up a similar interface for PTT using DTR or RTS. I know I lost the
signal voltage in late summer when the push-to-talk (DTR or RTS) line stopped
working on interface between WSJT (used for weak signal meteor scatter) and
my VHF transceiver. I think some electrical tape fell off the connection at
the switching transistor, and the 16 volts from the computer got shorted out.
Yesterday, my wife's similar computer worked OK, supplying the signal
voltage, and, using the interface, I was getting close on key (transmit)
which I thought would key my little two transistor MEDfer rig. I'm using a
13 volt power supply with that rig The 13 VDC B+ is connected to the B+ buss
and and am making and breaking the return to power supply B- to key rig. My
MFJ Grandmaster Memory keyer seems happy with this connection, but when I
used my wife's computer this morning, it didn't key, and I lost the 16V
signal voltage from the computer. This is a little more than I bargained
for. Learning some elementary solid state electronics and a little more
about tank circuits has been fun though frustrating at times. Now I have to
learn how to fix the @##@&$ computer, and interface it so this doesn't happen
again. Of course, I have no idea of where to begin.
