>Tomorrow I will be going mobile with my IC 735 and e-probe to get field
>measurements.
No Mike. We aren't ready for that. The routine tomorrow is "Wax On - Wax =
Off" ....the loop wire, that is. =20
>At what distance(s) do you recommend I take the measurements.
Not sure if this would prove anything unless the S-meter response is know=
n from both an absolute and a relative sense. A single accurate reading a=
t about two miles is the about all you need to determine if the equation =
for ERP based on Rr and loop current work out. It is kind of fun to see h=
ow the signal falls off with distance and direction, though. The signal f=
alloff with distance should be inversely proportion to measurement distan=
ce within the first 10 miles. The 'attenuation factor' comes into play at=
greater distances, and that depends on the soil conductivity for the reg=
ion, not the antenna. =20
How about checking out the signal in a certain person's driveway (that sa=
y's he can't copy your signal?) - you know how this goes! <G>
>Also, I was planning on taking them at N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W and NW. Wo=
uld that be enough points of the compass?
Sure. You will find that the power lines along the road side will drive y=
ou nuts! Look for cemeteries, school yards, or any area free of power lin=
es and trees to make measurements.
