My first LF receptions of G3AQC and MBMU was with a "T". I used my
balanced fed 160 meter dipole. The balanced line was tied together and
brought to resonance with a small series inductor. This antenna worked
better most of the time than the ten foot square loop matched with a
single turn coupling loop. The main problem with the "T" was noises
from the house. After building the octalux loop and Lyle's balanced
preamp I found it to be much quieter than the "T". But the loop is a
few hundred feet from the house where the "T" has one leg of the top
wire running over the house. Mr "T" is a good performer.
