To make the Argo scale read in the right direction with an IC-706, or other
recent Icom transceiver, use the CW reverse (CW-R) mode. On the IC-706, you
need to press and hold the mode button for a second or two to toggle between
CW and CW-R.
I have to do the same thing with my IC-756PRO. Icom traditionally has used
the equivalent of LSB mode for CW reception, while Kenwood and Yaesu use
USB. Tuning the knob to a higher frequency while copying CW on an Icom (in
"normal" CW mode) results in a higher audio pitch, which always made sense
to me. The rest of the world has got it wrong :-)
