My LW-MAX transmits a very messy sounding signal. Is it phase noise; I have
never listened to phase noise before so I can't comment on that. It is just
a messed up sounding signal that is very broad like what was seen of Mike
S's signal. I have since suggested to Vern that he trade something that he
has no use for instead of paying money for my LW-MAX. I wouldn't want to
take anyone's money for this thing. 100 bucks was a big rip off for buying
it new. Well it's time to fire up the HP and see who comes in first. The
captures will be available direct email for the asking. I'll post in the
morning who made it to Minnesota. Good luck loopers, Dex and Lewis.

I found a source for this part last week for someone and I just now looked
at the data sheet. This got me wondering...... Is this used in the output of
the LW=Max? If it is I wouldn't give much hope running near 100% efficiency.
What is required is a reasonably fast switching stage without a lot of
built-in series resistance and slow output transistors (as it appears this
device has).
I suspect the intent of the LW-max was to drive a coax leading to a final
near the base of the antenna, so I can't fault the designer - just the
users, who place the computer at the base of the antenna.
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmike! <G>
