way that beacons are listed in the Lowdown and on the web for this

Personally, I'd like to see a notice posted here and also in the
Lowdown in
July that requires all beacon operators to contact either John or
myself to
list their status before August 30th.
If an operator fails to respond, we simply don't list their beacon
until we
hear from them.
To my mind, this will greatly reduce the amount of mis-information ...

I'm for it, but with reservation to accommodate those who may not
receive _Lowdown_ nor be on the list. However, there may be a way around
that by having a local provide his neighbor's status, if active, as an
option and to be inclusive.
Another thing I'd like to see is more near-frequency beaconing,
possibly clustered regionally. Several have successfully arranged this
on the List on an ad hoc basis and it's been brought up before.
