Hi Bob,

I can't actually speak for Dave, of course, but most of his designs have
been suitable for whips of most any convenient size, for either portable or
fixed antennas.  If you have a location out in a field where you'd like to
mount it, for instance, even a 9-ft CB whip (all-metal, not fiberglassed)
should work fine with this design.
