According the "Western Update, issue #53 dated March 1, 1988" the reception of
the Z2 beacon in San Simeon, CA was made by Sheldon Remington in Hilo, Hawaii.
This is a distance of 2,333 miles.

According to my calculations that means we have a new world's record! To
make this
more official. I would ask that both Dex and Steve provide us with their
exact lat
and long. along with a screen capture of the reception. We will then ask for
the LWCA to certify this result.

I think that we need to establish the reception and QSO records for the
160-190khz
range at QRP levels (1 watt input or less) so that they may be compared with
future accomplishments by hams or others.

Congratulations to Dex and Steve for this accomplishment!

If you think you may a reception or QSO that would qualify for the
"Top Five" list please send details to me and I'll try to compile them
into a list.
