Hello Folks,
Thanks for all the answers to my question, I made an error when asking
though.
I have the B version of this meter. This unit has the external reference
input and
also a ovenized internal reference. I was hoping BFO osc was derived from
the reference since I
feed all my RX's here with a GPS based 10 Mhz. So if the BFO is derived
from crystals
that make feeding this thing with the GPS a moot point.

The BFO frequency on the HP3586 can be changed by removing the original
BFO crystals and replacing them with others. I've done this to one and
it worked well. There are two crystals that must be changed as I
remember, one for LSB and one for USB.
