Mark,

First of all, XM(GR) is on the air now, and will certainly be on the air
tomorrow
during your morning listening session. It's transmitting in QRSS60 mode,
and antenna current is maxed. Look for it at 184.8988khz.

The 500hz filter is really unnecessary for Argo. The software only looks at
a very section of
bandwidth (much narrower than 500hz) so it does you no good. If you're
getting a big white
blob, then you're likely overdriving the audio input of the software.
Adjust your soundcard
input using the mixer or volume program in Windows until you see something that
looks like the photograph at:

(Not the photograph at the top of the page, but the one further down.
It's a screen grab of Spectran software, but Argo's screen should
look much the same)

When properly adjusted, you should see white lines against a dark blue
background. Over time, you'll learn to recognize the difference
between QRN, QRM, and modulated signals.

Start out with the software in QRSS3 mode, to view more
bandwidth, until you get the hang of it, and can insure accurate
tuning. QRSS60 signals will still show up, but you just don't
have to be dead on frequency. (Or course, you give up a
little S/N ratio, but with some signals that shouldn't be
an issue).

Hope this all helps.
