LEK is now transmitting in WOLF mode at 182.2500 kHz. This will allow a
direct comparison of WOLF with BRO's QRSS60 transmissions on 182.2000 kHz. A
suggested method for making the comparisons is to record 25 or 30 minute
.WAV files of both signals, as is normally required for WOLF detection. The
.WAV files can then be analyzed in WOLF to look for LEK, and post-processed
using a spectrogram program to see BRO's signals. I've found that my
Soundblaster Live card will allow me to play back a .WAV file and observe
the output on the Argo screen at the same time. Probably this can be done
with other full-duplex sound cards as well. If your sound card won't let you
do this, you can use a program like Gram or Spectrum Lab to analyze the .WAV
file. And for those with more than one computer, you can play the recording
back on one machine and look at it with Argo or Spectran on another one.
The Minnesota weather forecast for tonight and Saturday calls for rain
and/or snow, with temperatures near or above freezing. As a result, LEK and
BRO are not likely to be radiating very well. However, the first half of
next week should be much colder, and antenna currents should be back to
normal winter levels.
