[Lowfer] Flattop is flying!!!>Radials...

I am running over 3000' of #14 insulated/stranded THHN copper wire in
lengths of 65' and 135' with 2 eight foot 3/4th inch copper pipes driven in
the ground, with 12" remaining visible above the surface, as the center
point of the radial system. All wires are soldered to the pipes and a single
#14 wire is soldered to each pipe, which bonds them together. I also have
several 4' and 8' one half inch copper pipes driven to the subsurface level
with a radial terminated to it. All radials are no more than 3" into the
ground. The system is in a mix of black dirt and sand. It functions fairly
well being that there are several oak trees in the vicinity to help
dissipate my transmitters signal. It works well on all HF bands. I'm sure it
helps on LF, but I will be putting up a couple of loops and retiring the
flattop to the HF bands soon. My neighbors thought my girlfriend and I were
crazy when they observed us slitting the soil and placing the wires into the
ground. It is real fun to dig a hole around here for a new flower garden or
bush. I have gotten well versed in repairing cut radials.

What are you running for a ground system?
