Many other gremlins at work! 'Proximity effect' between turns for one. The
moving electrons (current) in adjacent turns just don't seem to like each
other and try to push each out of the away. Turn-to-turn stray capacity
effects is another problem. If you try to avoid these losses by separating
the turns further apart, the inductance goes to pot. It's a wonder these
coils work at all!  <G>
