	The correct statement is that the center-to-center spacing is about two
wire diameters.  For example, look in "Reference Data for Radio
Engineers".  However, you will find that the optimum is so broad that it
doesn't make much difference, and for small wire and VLF space winding
probably isn't worth the trouble.  For a coil of given dimensions the
reduced eddy current loss caused by increased spacing is nearly
counterbalanced by the increased resistive loss due to the smaller wire
size.  If you feel like playing with spaced turns try using monofilament
fish line (easy to remove from the finished coil, even after application
of some varnish to hold the turns in place) or heavy string, which is
best left in place.
