Peter,

Is there a chance that this "large departure" is just your definition of
coil wire spacing? One definition is the center-to-center spacing and the
other is the edge-to-edge spacing. "Two wire diameters" would equal one wire
diameter edge-to-edge spacing. I've been caught on this one before.
