I'll fire up the HP and have a listen. I might be able to hear you even
louder if the dimmers are off. That is a huge in crease in antenna current.

Subject: [Lowfer] WC2XSR/13 status

After a week of trying to receive various LOWFER stations, I have had my
fill of thunderstorms and static. So, as of about 1600 CST, I have put
WC2XSR/13 back on the air.

It's the same stuff; 400 watts to the antenna, 166.500 KC, modulation
"XSR" repeated with QRSS30, QRSS10, QRSS3, and 10 WPM CW.

Interestingly enough, the antenna current and variometer tuning
adjustment are quite different now, and the antenna current has changed
from about 2.6 amps to 3.9 amps! My test fluorescent lamp also lights
up a few feet further away from the antenna.

I suspect that it may have to do with the fact that my next door
neighbor chopped down a small forest of mini (20-25' high) oak trees
which were growing right up against our common fence, and just about 25
feet from the antenna. Some of it may also be that the dratted tree
which is taking over the back yard and growing around my tower has shed
most of its leaves, helped along by the two hurricanes this fall and a
nice 60 MPH windstorm last week. <G>
