As an LF receiver, I think you would be happier with the R75, if you are
interested in weak signal work with high frequency stability, settability,
etc. That being said, you should be able to do a lot with the 706, and it's
nice to have the transmitter. I have the R75, but my HF transceiver is
really beginning to show its age, so I know what you're thinking...

Let's see if any of the 706 owners chime in.
