I received the April LOWDOWN, the LWCA monthly journal and found an
interesting article on ferrite use in LF matching x-frmrs and something
very interesting about a "local" LF'er, beacon BA, Brice Anderson.
The BA article describes an "ice proof" LW vertical having a unique
method of raising the 40 foot mast and its all-weather guying method.
Brice describes the one-man raising of the 40 footer in detail. It's
made out of four ten-foot 2 in. PVC sections. [I seen 20 footers at the
local home store.] But this is just back groung for what I question.
The T shown in sketch form has two sections of three wires, each
section opposite center. The outer wires of each section are insulated
nearest the center point of the T, but appear to be connected at the far
ends. Why this arrangement, anyone know?
On my T, which I think is traditional, it has the 3 wires joined at the
ends and also the middle, where the down lead is.
Thanks for another good LF issue, HQ.
