Hey Kurt,

Ha, I have similar circumstances, er, the basement location, not the
several acres.

Although you may have some different needs as you are in setup mode
now, most LFers that I have heard of terminate outdoor antennas to
unbalanced feed at the antenna via a x-formr, amplify it, and run coax
to the receiver.

In my case I use 75 ohm w/ F connectors, gratis the local cable co.
dumpster. [Seems they're always doing upgrades.]

I haven't decided on an antenna yet, as I have yet to find a way to get
it
into the shack. Most likely it will be a large wire antenna, rhombic,
loop
or beverage though I have had pretty good results on LW with just an
18'
whip in the past. I have several acres of antenna space this time
around.
