[LOGic] ADDING 2ND RIG TO RADIO INTERFACE

Is it possible one radio uses a straight thru cable and the other a
null-modem cable? Does the TS2000 require that RTS or DTR be set high?

Subject: [LOGic] ADDING 2ND RIG TO RADIO INTERFACE

Having some difficulty adding a Kenwood TS2000 to the LOGIC radio interface.

Successfully installed additional serial ports in the PC (running udner XP).
Device Manager reports the new ports are working properly, no conflicts.

Set up TS2000 as rig #2 (I already have an FT1000MP successfully interfaced
on COM1 to LOGIC, and set LOGIC to the rig's defaulkts which are 9600bps, 1
stop, no parity. Tried both COM ports in LOGIC setup but no joy ( keep
getting timeout errors). Yes, I selected radio #2 in with the buttons in the
LOG screen.

Tried the dropping rig and LOGIC serial settings to 4800 bps, 2 stop bits,
no parity. Same errors.

Then I plugged the TS2000 into the cable I'm using with COM1 to the FT1000P,
changed setup and rig accordingly, and still same errors. The rig default is
9600/1 stop which I set in LOGIC, and also tried 4800 2 stops, per Kenwood
Manual. This port + cable works just fine with the FT1000MP.

I put an RS232 tester inline and the LED's flicker when I send the RESET
RADIO INTERFACE command from LOGIC. Also, the "PC" indicator lights up on
the TS2000 display, so it appears to me I've got good prts, good cable, data
path, and there's some communication going on, but LOGIC still reports
timeout errors and none of the radio control commands will function.

Incidentally, for these tests I removed the FT1000MP and entered NONE for
the Radio #1 driver.

What am I missing here???

Tnx es 73

Dan
