[LOGic] Loss of serial comms with rig when tx on CW

YES! Happens to me all the time - LOGic7 or LOGic8 loses communications.
FT-1000MP, MicroKeyer, LOGic 7 or LOGic8.

Same type thing happened w/ N1MM, but the problem was worked out after
months of testing between me, MicroKeyer, and N1MM.

Info was also sent to PDA, but no action taken. MicroHam even offered to
loan PDA a MicroKeyer, but Dennis did not take them up on offer.

Root problem in N1MM was timing and the way it polls radio. I suspect same
to be happening in LOGic.

Gotta run and get to hospital to see my wife - I doubt I'll be back on the
reflector for awhile.

Regards, Bill K1UQ

Does it do the same thing if you use some other kind of keying such as a
straight key or maybe computer generated keying or an external keyer? Is it
ok on SSB? I have a 746 Pro and no problems with any kind of keying at all.
Off the top of my head, I wonder about RFI issues or serial port interrupt
conflicts or something like that. K7MH

This is probably one of those "It's the software" / "No, it's the hardware"
kind of things... But I really do think it's the hardware, and if anyone
else concurs, I'll post something on the TS-2000 group.

I'm using LOGic 7 to communicate with my Kenwood TS-2000 for routine logging

purposes (mode and frequency). I'm using the 38,400 baud setting, 1 stop
bit, polling the rig every 100 ms (fastest setting). This works fine except
for when I'm transmitting on CW, using the rig's internal keyer. In this
mode, I will usually get a "unable to communicate with with rig" message
from LOGic. My guess is that the TS-2000 processor is too busy (due to
internal keyer?) to service the serial port every time it interrupts, and
LOGic bails out on it.

Question: Does anyone know if LOGic errors out when even ONE serial exchange

is missed -- in other words, no retries? I don't want to decrease the
polling frequency or baud rate -- but if my scenario is right, that probably

wouldn't solve the problem anyway, just make it somewhat less frequent.

Has anyone else experienced this problem when sending on CW? If so, with
what rig?
