Gil and All,

I tried reinstalling XP, could not find the 'repair' feature, so started =
a Windows XP update install, which I didn't really want to do.=20

Barely into the procedure a message appeared on a blue screen saying,=20

"STOP: C0000221 Unknown Hard Error \SystemRoot\system32\ntd77.d77"=20

I had to shut down the system and reboot and on the second try I got =
back into operation. What do you all think?

I would try reinstalling XP as a repair, not a full install. I am sure =
you
are missing something form perhaps the installer or other system file.

I run XP and have not had any problem whatsoever with a logic install. =
In
fact, I can do it over the network (both running xp in this case) and =
in
that install the install file is not even on the same system. =
Previously I
was running WIN2000 and had no problem with that either.
