The LaMoine Emergency Amateur Radio Club held its regular monthly business meeting on January 8th. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 P.M. There were nine regular members present.
Your 2008 dues should be paid as soon as possible. Contact Kevin Walter at waltrfrm at bushnell.net to arrange a payment. Thanks for your continued support! On the subject of dues, Duane, N9SSN reported via email the the club has not sent in a payment to the Illinois Repeater Association since 2004. Mark, KA9SZX was going to contact the organization to get a status update so that we can act on this at the next meeting.
It was noted that Mac, N9RGF and Bill Hamrick of Augusta were both recently placed in assisted care due to separate injuries. It was agreed that we would send each of these gentleman a sympathy card.
The status of obtaining grant money to repair the repeater antenna and mount was discussed. It was noted that the repeater technicians will need to get cost estimates to Jesse ASAP so that a formal estimate may be given to state Senator John Sullivan. We are currently working on obtaining letters of support from area agencies, including the American Red Cross, city and county emergency services, and the NWS. Regarding the 440 MHz repeater, a current letter was given to OPS last month indicating which club members should be granted access to Lincoln Hall for purposes of accessing the UHF repeater. This list will need updating at least once every two years.
The club was recently contacted by University Baptist Church regarding some radio equipment that was left to the church as part of the estate. The club is willing to help the congregation figure out what each item is worth. We are awaiting further notice from the church board on how to proceed.
It was noted that the club's two-meter radio that was apparently placed in the Salvation Army canteen several years ago is missing. The canteen was inspected and no radio was found. John Carson was contacted and he indicated that the Dive Rescue truck does not have any radio(s) belonging to the club. We're still trying to figure out where the radio is at. Any suggestions?
Tony, KB9NAB reported that Macomb will host an Advanced Spotter Training workshop this spring. An exact date and time is TBA.
