We should be easily able to hear the 146.565 beacon running 50 mw from Macomb. Also you can track the balloon by using one of the APRS search pages such as: http://www.qsl.net/n9wtm/
Enter in the call (KC9LIG-11) and track.

Subject: Feb. 23rd balloon launch

Hello all,

The latest forecasts are almost perfect! The predicted weather is for 25% cloud cover, no precipitation, low winds, and temperatures around 30F. Quite a change from previous launch attempts.

The flight path predictions are equally good with distances of around 40-50 miles in a generally east-southeast direction with landing near Rensselaer. If this holds true then the return trip will be a very straight forward drive up 65.

We currently have 9 people scheduled to ride in the van:

Geza Gyuk
Mark Hammergren
Rob Zedric and guest
Craig Stillwell
Fred Johnson
Peter Coons
Bernhard Beck-Winchatz
Elliot Barlow

If you (or something you know about) are intending to ride in the van and are not on this list, please get back to me ASAP so that I can make sure you get a reserved seat. We have room for a total of only 11.

We will be using Mark's call sign for the balloon (KC9LIG-11) on the standard 144.390MHz APRS frequency. We will also be flying the "Lunchbox Tracker" loaned from the Ochs family and a CW beacon at 146.565 MHz.

I'm looking forward to a successful flight!

Thanks,

Geza

P.S. if you would like to be removed from this mail list please send me an email to be immediately removed.
