The following is a brief overview of some topics presented at last night's business meeting for the LaMoine Emergency Amateur Radio Club (LEARC) of Macomb:

NWS spotter training classes are currently being scheduled for the Macomb area. The spotter training class for Macomb has been scheduled for Tuesday, March 11th at 6:30 p.m. This also happens to be our March business meeting night, so it was agreed to change the time and place for next month's business meeting. We will have a short meeting at the American Legion (221 E. Washington Street) at 6:00 p.m., which will be just before the spotter training class begins. Other area classes can be found by visiting http://www.crh.noaa.gov/dvn/?n=dvnoutreach

We agreed to send get well cards to Mac and Bill Hamrick. All members present agreed to sign the cards, and they will be mailed this week.

Several prospective amateurs attended our meeting as representatives of the WIU Weather Club. The weather club is interested in maintaining contact and working with our club for communications, amateur licensing and weather related issues. We look forward to working with the WIU Weather Club in the near future.

There appears to be some interest in having either a technician class license study group or a VE exam in the Macomb area. If you know of anyone who wishes to obtain their license, please let me know ASAP so that we can get new hams on the air!

We took an informal poll to determine whether or not club members were interested in having Hazmat training, as weather spotters are considered as a first responder of the sort. Most members in attendance expressed a desire to learn more about training opportunities, so that topic will be pursued for a future meeting.

Jesse, K9JLR
President
