...Scattered strong thunderstorms...
Scattered strong thunderstorms will persist until sunset. The storms
will be found mainly south of a line from Memphis...to Kahoka...
Keokuk...Carthage and Macomb. The storms will bring gusty winds
up to 40 mph...and very heavy downpours at rates of over an inch an
hour...as they move southeast at around 20 mph. There is the
potential that an isolated storm could become severe producing large
hail from penny to nickel size...and damaging straight line winds in
excess of 60 mph.
As the thunderstorms approach...move indoors. Do not stand by
windows. Unless it is an emergency...avoid using telephones and
electrical appliances until the storm has passed.
