Amateur radio operators, also known as ham radio operators from the =
Macomb area as well as from around the world will be participating in =
International Field Day from 1 p.m. Saturday to 11 a.m Sunday, at the =
Lakeview Nature Center in Macomb Park District's Spring Lake Park.  =
Locally, this Field Day is sponsored by members of the Lamoine Emergency =
Amateur Radio Club.

Any licensed amateur radio operator, as well as anyone who is curious, =
or would like to learn about ham radio is welcome to attend.

The object of Field Day is to talk to as many hams from around the world =
and around the country as possible, and to learn to operate in abnormal =
situations in less than optimal conditions.  A premium is placed in =
developing skills to meet the challenges of emergency preparedness as =
well as to acquaint the general public with the capabilities of Amateur =
Radio.

People in this area are most familiar with ham operators in times of =
severe weather as storm spotters.
