[LeArc] [Fwd: SRRC W9MKS Hamfest Tables]

One of the advantages of being an ARRL club is that a percentage of the ARRL
dues club members pay are given to the club. There is some special way the
dues have to be paid, and I don't remember what it is, but hopefully Kevin
does. Perhaps we need to remind our club members of this so they pay their
dues correctly and we get the money.

In my opinion, depending on your interest in amateur radio, the ARRL
membership is of more, or less, value to an individual. If you like working
DX, the QSL bureaus can easily save you more than your membership dues with
the postage you save. If you only use two meter FM, you may not get much
back from your investment. If you have not seen QST in a few years, you
might want to pick one up. They have been making changes, adding more items
of interest for the casual amateur.

If we can come up with people to man it, hopefully enough that people can
swap off during the day, a club table might be nice. The club has some
miscellaneous items we might wish to sell. Plus any club member with
something to sell could send it up to be displayed on the table. Perhaps
something for the club to talk about next Tuesday.

I remember the nightly chats between WB9MKT, Greg; N9GA, Gary; K9EWK, O.
D.;W9NUP, Perky; and others. I remember listening for months as they talked
about a Heath Kit transceiver one of them (O.D. ?) was building. And of
course WB9SJF, Dale, was there to talk to someone virtually any hour of the
day. I miss the last night talks with WD9HAP, Gene, and who every else
happened by in the wee hours of the morning. And of course WB9NWR (I know
the Nasty Weather Report is correct, but the prefix may be wrong,) Joe
making his daily delivery to the local NAPA store. Hopefully a few years
from now the topic on the repeater, and this reflector, will be memories of
the old days when no one was ever on the two meter repeater.
