I have received multiple e-mails asking about where to go to view Wednesday's Delta IV Heavy launch. Here is what Vandenberg AFB posted on their web site:

"Here's the latest on the upcoming launch! The Delta IV-Heavy is scheduled to launch on Wednesday, August 28th at 10:52am PST.
 
Surf Station will be closed for the launch. 

Suggested off-base public viewing sites are Floradale Avenue, Corral Road and Vandenberg Village. On-base viewing sites are 35th Street and Wall Beach."

Of the three off-base locations mentioned above, Floradale Avenue in Lompoc is the closest to the launch pad. However, coastal clouds and fog may be a problem, so be prepared to quickly move to an alternate location further inland in search of better visibility.

Regardless of where you go, avoid trespassing on government or private property, drive and park safely, and be aware of any potential safety hazards around you.
