Launch Cancelled Again
I just received information that today's launch from Vandenberg AFB has
been cancelled. The scrub was caused because the P-3 range aircraft based
at Point Mugu had been grounded for some type of problem. The Navy was
unable to get the backup P-3 airborne soon enough to support the launch.
P-3C aircraft are stationed hundreds of miles downrage from the launch
site and allow telemetry (data) to be received from the launch vehicle
after it has passed out of range of Vandenberg's tracking station.
