The laser flare produces a line of laser light, which is easier to 
flash across a target than a dot. The manufacturer suggests just 
passing the line back and forth over the target continuously, 
producing a regular series of flashes. However, SOS would work, by 
varying the speed of the passes across the target, and I would think 
that flashing groups of three would work, too,.
