First led transceiver to led transceiver contact.


Without a photodiode in sight, this evening myself, G8CYW and Keith, G4MSF made contact over a 25km path over city lights and stadium floodlights using the optical transverter design mentioned previously, connected to modified KA7OEI front ends running from the same power led as used on transmit, in my new led transceiver design.Signals were at the top of the S meter on the FT817s we were using at both ends, on FM and SSB. Keith was using a 100mm glass lens and I was using my 28cm by 20cm Fresnel lens set up. This worked so well we did not bother setting up a test any closer than this beforehand.
