Hi Stuart,
Yes, I am using a ldr and it seems to work ok, by my own testing ie scattering
the laser beam off the house walls. I suppose the gloss paint does help a bit
...hi. Looking at the 449 1927 specs its mcd is 810000 and has a 10 deg viewing
angle but the dragon has a viewing angle of 120deg with mcd of 15600 and a
luminous flux of 43 compared with 61.
Would the viewing angle not be better than 110deg ( without lens I suppose ).
Could be swings and roundabouts?
Ofcourse the latter is way cheaper, which appeals to me....hi

John,
Are you really using a ldr for receive? I thought they were far to slow and
insensitive.
Your RS led is not the best option, go for part number 665 6189 instead, it is
more powerful and can be made to receive also.
I cannot help you with contacts and activity, you are nearly 300 miles away! (I
wish I could)
I presume you have looked at Clint's, (KA7OEI) website, it has proved invaluable
to me.
