Thank you well for your long comments.
The best for theories  comparing is the experiment.
I did not wish to dissuade the experimenters who  would like to build a 
pulsed laser because it is a realization technically very  interesting.
The low cost LD 650 pulsed laser diodes I use are  at:

They are delivered with a  very simple pulser schematic but rather dangerous 
(high voltage PSU from mains  without transformer...)

These schematics are  designed with an old technology but they perfectly work.
However these lasers  need high voltages, mandatory protection glasses, a 
good oscilloscope and to be  careful about hazards.
I am ready to help everybody who would try the  adventure.
