[Laser] Pulse laser test

James,
The question about pulses was simpler.
What is the best TX that allows detecting the smallest signal?
A 3 mW CWM laser modulated 100% in VLF with a 50% duty cycle or a 20W  pulsed 
laser 80 nS with a rate pulses so that the average power stays to 3  mW....?
With all calculations I always found the first TX with FFTDSP and PGP RX  was 
more efficient.
To reach the same limit for the second TX, the APD must be cooled and  biased 
in photon counting mode with a synchronic over voltage each pulse  strobe.  
At the limits, if the sensitivity seems nearly at the same range,  the 
detection becomes only a statistic effect and shows a poorer result.
