To convert the star visual light on a single wave length is an easy way to  
get the photons number range.
It is because for the same energy, the lower  the frequency, the higher the 
photons number.

For  the energy spectrum a star has to be considering like a hot blackbody.
For a  like the sun star, the integrated energy is 1.36 kW / m^2 outside the 
Earth's  atmosphere.
The solar energy seen by the eye is roughly 0.6 KW / m^2.
