Thank you for your words of encouragement Yves, I'm quite hooked for the 
moment hehe.
I noticed when I pointed the receiver towards the ground the 50hz hum 
increased even thought he ground was dark???? why should that be?
Straight up was very quiet, I've fitted 226 very bright white LED's to a pcb 
to use as a beacon from my QTH so I shall take the receiver to do some 
distance tests.
