Good Day All,
Just wanted to let the membership know about some software for DSP that
I've found to be outstanding+.
I've been using it for the last 1.5 weeks and continue to be amazed at it's
abilities! It's called Spectrum Lab.
It does all kinds of digital figures and the parameters are all
programmable. There is a nice signal generator built in, complete with
noise source. It can take timed commands for the all of it's functions, so
it is flexible and makes an ideal long platform for extended monitoring
periods. Output can be to the screen, to the speaker or to a text file with
the sampled points in it.
The bandwidth can be adjusted down to .0002 Hz bins (and possibly even
narrower). This narrowband mode allows reception of very weak signals
although it's slow...taking 45 to 90 minutes of operation before it spits
out the first data point!
Best of all, the configuration of the various filters can be varied as the
user sees fit so up converting and down converting at IF's up to 48 Khz can
be set up. You also have 2 waterfall displays, so one display can monitor a
large part of the spectrum while the second waterfall can be used to
monitor the part of the spectrum where you are trying to hear the distant
receiver.
I highly recommend this software!!!! It's free and the author is very much
into lowfer and the weak signal aspect(s) of amateur radio. I've suggested
he join this mailing list as he found my comments about reception of
non-LOS troposcatter very interesting.
It does more stuff than I can even begin to list here and begins where ARGO
leaves off, although it is not as easy and simple to run as ARGO is. It
takes awhile to learn, but it's time well spent if you need the advanced
capability.
Software is at:

Good luck to all.
