[Laser] Air Transmission Properties

Good morning all,

I've been working on a point-to-point laser system for mountaintop DX
class work for about a year now, and as part of an independent study for
school I need to model the system. I need to characterize air as an
optical transmission medium - I'd like to find some equations that
relate wavelength, dewpoint and distance to absolute optical
attenuation. Additionally, I need to create a noise characterization
based on levels of ambient light measured at the detector, so that I can
come up with an overall equation for SNR.

Can anyone suggest some reference materials for obtaining these
relations?
