[Laser] How ??

I would think so.  I saw some WiFi cards for sale at a hamfest a couple
weeks ago for $10 each.  I almost bought a couple to fool around with.

If security is a problem I'd say a digitally-modulated laser would be the
way to go.  The whole neighborhood certainly isn't going to be able to
monitor it.
