OK, thanks for the quick reply. Now I know I have at least
one sked partner. I am going out mainly to test the laser gear,
but I will probably also try some 2m SSB and WSJT. Lacking any
other coordination, look for me on 144.200 after dark on Saturday,
June 8.
Yes, as I recall, operating from Mount Diablo is a problem due to lack of
access after dark. I think Jim Moss knows more about this situation. Does
anybody else know the rules/regulations/tricks involved in getting near the
top of Mount Diablo for nighttime operation?
>From that Hwy 35 location I can see a good bit of the mountain, but I am
not familiar enough with Mount Diablo to make a recommendation about
an operating spot.
If we are able to make a laser QSO from Palo Alto to Diablo it will
more than double the best DX I have achieved with N9JIM (about 22 miles).
