What makes the HE-10 generally a superior radio to the Hallicrafters S-38
is that the HE-10/KT-200 has an AC transformer and a S-meter. However, I
would question anyone's sanity for paying over a $100/$150 for a used
HE-10/KT200. There is nothing in the HE-10/KT-200 that makes it a high
priced used radio. We sold thousands and thousands of these things back
in those "good old days". They pop at flea markets all the time for $50
to $75 selling prices. If you do buy one of these used turkey's, by the
time you replace all the dried out caps and out of tolerance resistors,
and maybe a few tubes, you probably could have built one from scratch and
saved a few dollars. Of course, if you are building at-home manufacturer
shrines, money spent is probably less of a prime consideration.
